Cockerham Art Exhibition was first held in 2003 and was organised by Elizabeth Smithies and Chris Tindall. It very soon gained an excellent reputation not only for the quality of the exhibits, but also for the excellent way it was organised and run. Having run the exhibition for 10 years, with its popularity continually increasing year on year, Elizabeth and Chris decided that the time was right for them to step down, but unfortunately no-one felt able to take on the mantle. This sadly resulted in no exhibition being held in 2014.
Sue White from Pilling felt that the popularity of the event deserved more, and thus “Blossoming Art” was born. An umbrella business incorporating an online gallery as well as exhibitions. With agreement from Elizabeth and Chris, Sue contacted those who had previously exhibited with a view to re-instating the exhibition and they were all very interested. So with this in mind the hall was duly booked for the weekend following the August bank holiday (back to its previous time), being Friday 4th to Sunday 6th September 2015. Sue said “Chris and Elizabeth are going to be a very hard act to follow but I will certainly try my best to be as efficient and accommodating as they were and hopefully to build on their success”.
With the Cockerham Exhibition being the first one, Sue is hoping to establish more exhibitions in the area with one to be held on the A6 at either Bilsborrow Village Hall in on Friday 25th - Sunday 27th March 2016, with the intention of building to around 4 per year plus an extensive array of artwork on the Online Gallery.
